Despite an extensive garden, the existing wooden decking and flagstone areas for Costa Rica guests were outdated. As an alternative to expensive renovations, the old floors were removed and Oakio’s Proshield Decking was chosen to transform the space into a livable outdoor area for family and friends to enjoy.
A newly installed decking provides a perfectly framed view of the garden pergola. The 100sqm decking area maximizes the available space, replacing the original aged timber decking and stone tiles, wrapping around the gardens, and providing plenty of room to relax.

Because the project is located in a coastal area with high salinity and high moisture, the selected decking must have sufficient strength. Therefore, the client chose Oakio Proshield series flooring PPD02 as the deck for this project.
Using Westminster coloured Proshield decking, the client created a highly modern deck that will last for years even in the high humidity and high salinity of the seaside. The incredible and highly distinctive textured design then blends effortlessly into the surface.
On decking, there is a durable co-extrusion layer that protects against salt while still maintaining a fantastic natural look. The client also wanted to incorporate modern into the deck and therefore required a product that was versatile.
The design style of this new space extends seamlessly into the garden by minimizing the number of materials used.
